Pakistani batsman Saleem Pervez was born on September 9, 1947, in Amristar, Punjab, India. After waiting 13 years, he finally made his international debut. The right-handed batsman had played one ODI in 1980 against the West Indies in their hometown of Lahore and scored 18 runs. He died on April 24, 2013, in Lahore, Punjab, at the age of 65 years and 227 days.
Saleem Pervez played first-class cricket for the National Bank of Pakistan from 1967–68 until 1989–90. During his 22-year first-class career, he scored 8075 runs at 36.21 with the best of 226*, including 16 hundred and 45 fifties. He was a prolific run scorer in domestic cricket but could not play for Pakistan due to the long list of stars at that time.
Indeed, it was bad luck for him not to play test cricket for Pakistan. Saleem Pervez also scored 416 runs in 23 List-A matches, including two fifties, before retiring from cricket in 1989–90. Salim Pervez was a key figure in the Pakistan match-fixing investigation in 1999. No charges were brought against him, but he was accused of fixing matches but none were proven. He died in a road accident after suffering serious injuries.
