Imran Khan’s Test Debut
Imran khan made his Test debut at the age of 19 vs. England in the 1st Test of Birmingham, in June 1971. Imran scored 5 runs in the first Test inning before he ran out. Imran khan bowled 23 overs, 9 maidens, and conceded 36 runs with no wicket. In the second inning, Imran bowled 5 overs at the cost of 19 runs with no wicket. Unfortunately, he didn’t pick his first test wicket in his first test match. This high-scoring Test match was drawn. So, Imran’s presence was felt only in the match by taking Ken Shuttleworth’s catch off Pervaiz Sajjad Bowling. After that, he was dropped and put on the sidelines for the next three years.

He was lucky to be part of the Pakistan squad touring England in 1974. In the First Test of Leeds, he scored 23 runs in the first inning and picked up his first test wicket of Tony Greig with the support of Wasim Bari, who took the catch behind the wickets. Imran Khan also made his ODI debut against England on the same tour, in the 1st ODI, at Nottingham, 31st August 31, 1974. He cost 36 runs in his 10 overs and didn’t pick any wicket like in his first Test match. Imran Khan took his first ODI wicket in the second match of the series played at Birmingham, September 3, 1974. Imran Khan took his first ODI wicket when he clean-bowled England captain Mike Denness. The second victim of Imran was Geoff Arnold. His bowling analysis was 7 over 2 maidens 16 runs and 2 wickets.
