Murali Kartik was an Indian left-arm spinner, who born on September 11, 1976, at Madras (Now Chennai). He could not get enough chances due to the consistent performance of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. But he possesses all types of weapons in his armory. He had a decent batting average in first-class cricket with 19 half-centuries, but not able to perform at the international level.
He made Test debut against South Africa at Mumbai in 2000. He scored 14 runs off 31 balls with 2 fours and took 2 for 28 in the first inning. In the second inning, he scored 2 runs and took 1 for 50, but South Africa won the match by 4 wickets. That was a satisfactory performance for a young lad.
He was selected for the second test also, played at Bengaluru, where he took 3 wickets and just two runs in the batting department. He made ODI debut in 2002 but dropped for India in the 2003 World Cup squad. One-off his memorable bowling performance of 6 for 27 in an ODI match against Australia at Mumbai and then again dropped.
