5 or More Wickets on Test Debut for Pakistan

In the first Test against Australia at Dubai (DSC) 2018, Pakistan’s off-spinner Bilal Asif register his name in the elite club of bowlers who took 5 or More Wickets on Test Debut for Pakistan. Bilal Asif is the 11th Pakistani bowler to perform this performance. Two of the better bowling figures on debut for Pakistan were Bilal Asif’s 6 for 36. Mohammad Zahid’s 7 for 66 and Mohammad Nazir’s 7 for 99. both against New Zealand, in 1996 and 1969, respectively.
Bilal Asif figures are the best by any bowler making his Test debut against Australia. He bettered a record that stood for more than 100 years, that of Fred Martin’s 6 for 50 in 1890. Bilal Asif was 33 years, and 13 days old when he became the oldest Pakistani to take a five-wicket haul on Test debut. Tanvir Ahmed, a bowler for Pakistan, set the previous record against South Africa in 2010–11 with an age of 31 years, 355 days.
