Keith Fletcher on the tour of India 1972-73 but totally overlooked his magnificent 97 not out in Chennai. This sector of the tour was especially memorable for me as it provided my maiden Test hundred — a tremendous relief after a wretched start which saw me score only 23 runs in my first four Test innings of the trip.
I made only one score of less than 50 in the rest of the series, and finished it with 113 in Bombay out of a stand worth 254 with Tony Greig, who was also passing 100 for England for the first time.
